Primary: Examples are in reference to Reading Street Grade 1 Unit 2 week 4 with a focus on iPad based extensions, PC alternatives are provided.
Intermediate: Examples are from Reading Street Grade 4 Unit 3 Week 4
Middle School: Examples are from PH Lit Grade 7 Unit 3; Reading for Information.

- Sing With Me: "A Good Environment" use Show Me to create a song and video then email the product to parents. (alternative can be done using Sound Recorder or Garage Band)
- Vocabulary: "Around, find, food, grow, under, water" Draw pictorial examples of the vocabulary in Paper. (alternative is a visual scavenger hunt with the computer or iPad camera)
- Main Section eText: "Life in the Forest"; Students create similar example as the sentences in the story where they describe what an animal eats and show a picture and a sentence using Bamboo Paper and are provided Additional Resource which were found with a simple Google search. (alternative can be done using Word)
- Grammar Jammer: Nouns, using Popplet to create a graphic organizer. (PC alternative would be using Smart Art in Word or bubbl.us)

- Concept Talk Video: "How do weather patterns effect our lives?" Start with a Google search "weather for kids". Students can find specific examples of how different types of weather affect us at http://www.weatherwizkids.com/.
- The Big Question: What are some Patterns in Nature? Create a concept map using http://popplet.com.
- Writers Workshop: Formal Letter Writing; Using Word templates or online template at http://jc-schools.net/write/letter-write.htm.
- Vocab: "Destruction, shatter, surge, expected, forecast and inland" Visual Scavenger Hunt searching for pictures online. The best example wins.
- Cause and Effect: Acting out a seen with pictures and putting them into a Powerpoint.
Middle School: Examples are from PH Lit Grade 7 Unit 3; Reading for Information.
- Big Question: "What should we learn?"; Help your students get there opinions out into the world, Turn a persuasive essay into a podcast or post it to a blog.
- Vocabulary: "Hexagons, evaporated, gumption, paupers, crucial, aptitude" Teams of 2-4 students act out and photograph or film each of the vocabulary words. We have a competition for who acts out the best representation of the term.
- Comparing Literacy Works: "No Gumption", visit the Saturday Evening Post Website to see what has changed and what is still the same in this publication, can lead to a conversation about changes in media. Visit the Archive and Gallery. Each student sharing and commenting on a cover in edmodo
