Letters from the Curriculum Team
Hello everyone!
Just a short note to remind everyone that Maggie and I will be making drop in visits to some of the schools tomorrow (Monday the 15th), and the remainder of the schools on October 30th. Please use this time when we are in the district to ask questions, share stories, or get help where you need it.
Key Question: Where do I find more information on Writing options in Reading Street?
An outline of the Writing philosophy can be found in the First Stop online. Additional Writing Workshops are located In the online resource, click on the following path: Other Resources>Teacher Resources>Teaching Guides>Customized Literacy. Under the customized literacy link you will find an additional Writing Workshop that scaffolds lessons related to writing new genres like Blogs, Podcasts, and e-mail messages.
Point to Ponder:
Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself. Chinese proverb
In other words, creating a desire to learn is an important goal in the teaching of reading if we want our students to take the next step.
I look forward to working with you in these visits.
Thanks!
